Scoring Criteria
1. Description of the Organization (maximum 5 points, please limit to ½ pages)

With a mission of enriching the lives of people of all ages and abilities, Fellinlove Farm, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Holland, Michigan, near Saugatuck, is a unique small farm and community hub. Located on 11 ¾ wooded acres, with pastures, ponds, and a ¾ mile nature trail, Fellinlove Farm’s beautiful, serene setting provides opportunities for guests to connect with nature and interact with the many gentle and diverse animals who live there.

Since 2012, Fellinlove Farm has specialized in providing adaptive field trips/tours to people with unique needs—emotional, developmental, intellectual, or physical. To ensure our guests’ well-being and to create a truly magical experience for everyone who visits Fellinlove Farm, we collaborated with persons with disability, caretakers and families, and professionals (therapists, social workers, educators, and clergy) to create an adaptive curriculum and design accommodations that meet the unique learning styles and physical needs of each of our guests.

We also have a robust volunteer program--including our collaboration with MOKA, an organization that supports and enhances the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our volunteers, many of whom have unique strengths and abilities, not only benefit from being a part of our Fellinlove Farm family and contributing to our success, they are integral in helping us create a welcoming and enriching place for all.

Fellinlove Farm’s inclusive and accepting atmosphere provides an important place for those in our community who are often excluded, marginalized, or isolated to make meaningful connections to new human and animal friends, to learn in meaningful ways, and to try new things in a risk-free environment. Everyone is welcomed and embraced at Fellinlove Farm!

2. Funding Request (maximum 35 points, total, please limit to 1 page)

Fellinlove Farm is home to our namesake beautiful Fell Ponies, horses, mini horses, two miniature donkeys, two miniature llamas, two Zebu cattle, KuneKune pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits, tortoises, and the beautiful koi and goldfish swimming in our ponds. We also have bearded dragons, ferrets, chinchillas and more. Each of these beloved animals is gentle and intuitive to our guests' needs, and we could not do the important work we do without them. The $10,000 funding will help Fellinlove Farm offset the actual cost per guest by covering essential expenses such as animal care, maintenance of facilities, and utilities. By alleviating these operational burdens, the farm can offer its experiences at a more affordable rate for guests while ensuring the sustainability of its operations still maintaining high-quality standards in these programs:
-Personalized Field Trips, adapted to those with unique needs
-Senior Assisted Living Tours
-Individualized Volunteer Work
-Inclusive Young Fellinlove Farmers Program

In addition, these funds will support the MISSION STATEMENT of Fellinlove Farm to improve our guests' quality of life through:
~Hands on interactions with our diverse animals
~Socialization and educational opportunities
~Outdoor discoveries of nature in a serene setting

3. Funding Justification (maximum 40 points, please limit to 1 page)

Fellinlove Farm is seeking $10,000 in funding from West Shore Aware to strengthen its operational capacity. This financial support will enable the farm to provide its program offerings and cover the true cost per guest. With this assistance, Fellinlove Farm can continue providing enriching experiences to its visitors while ensuring sustainability and growth. In 2023, 15% of Fellinlove Farm's organization's operating funds came from a government grant, while 13% came from foundation and business grants.

4. Summary

Fellinlove Farm's funding request of $10,000 seeks support for general operational funding to enhance its program offerings and offset the actual cost per guest. This support is crucial for maintaining high-quality animal care, ensuring a diverse range of educational experiences, and creating a welcoming environment for ALL visitors. By investing in Fellinlove Farm, funders can directly contribute to improving guests' quality of life through hands-on interactions with diverse animals, socialization opportunities, educational experiences, and outdoor discoveries of nature in a serene farm setting.
This is evident in our four programs:
-Personalized Field Trips, adapted to those with unique needs
-Senior Assisted Living Tours
-Individualized Volunteer Work
-Inclusive Young Fellinlove Farmers Program
